“While BH may no longer hold any LGA as territory, they are clearly still strong enough to launch attacks against military bases and civilian populations, derisively termed as “soft targets”. This is evidenced by multiple under-reported attacks by insurgents in many North East communities, including military bases. It is heart-rending that the government keeps underplaying these attacks and referring to them as soft targets.”
“Elections are not just about winning. Far more important than who wins, is the message it passes. A situation where a Third Force candidate polls millions of votes can have the effect of putting whoever wins on his toes, even if only to avoid an impending “woe”; a possible loss in the next election.”

M&A has numerous definitions depending on the transaction format. “On behalf of the Federal Government, I tender the nation’s apology to the family of Late MKO Abiola, who got the highest votes and to those that lost their loved ones in the cause of June 12 struggle.” This, for me, was the most emotional part of President Buhari’s speech on June 12. I could […]
I begin with a caveat; nothing in this article is intended to make a case for the return of Buhari in 2019. The general elections are less than a year away, and while the current Buhari-led administration may have massively underperformed, all pointers indicate that President Buhari would present himself for re-election. More than at […]
“All this talk about a 3rd force to upend PDP and APC in 2019 is a ruse! It is never going to happen”. “People like you are why Nigeria may never achieve its potential. Laidback lots! You are comfortable with creating a good life for yourself and yourself alone! No wonder Trump called us a […]
The Trial of General Bako *By Saheed Animashaun Negeru, General Bako’s country of birth, is a “small” geographical enclave blessed with abundant resources. Quite paradoxically, Negeru is a grossly underdeveloped country in spite of these humongous endowments. Up until 18 years ago, Negeru had been largely ruled by men in Khaki, one of them being […]
It is easy to lose sight of the root of our travails as a nation while looking at the horrid way things are run at the top. Many leadership theory proponents advance the superiority of change occurring at the leadership level with the resultant effect trickling to the lower levels. The idea is that the […]
Discussions around the quest for greater accountability in government are a never ending one. It takes center stage in several citizen education platforms round the globe. The importance of accountability and transparency in government can never be exaggerated. It is the thread that holds democracy together. Democracy is touted as being a form of government […]
For the umpteenth time, I put forth that Buhari’s PR style needs to be changed. I really hope it doesn’t become an albatross that would ultimately become the undoing of his administration. This would be terribly unfortunate because if Buhari fails, it would mean every Nigerian has failed. While myself and many other conscionable Nigerians […]
